Oct 14, 2017 I am a first-time Mac user and have a question about quiting/closing programs. When you click the red button/X in the upper left corner of a program, is there a setting in Lion to make the program actually close/quit instead of having to go to the menu at the top and click Quit? You can also force the Finder to quit, if it stops responding. Select Finder in the Force Quit window, then click Relaunch. If none of your apps are responding, you can force your Mac to restart. You can also force an app to close on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. If the program will not quit no matter how long you wait, then you need to try and force it to quit.
