I’m not quite sure why this update took so long to show up on MacUpdate because CC 2014 was released a couple of months ago. Regardless, if you have a Creative Cloud subscription you start to look at Adobe updates in a new light. Updates just happen, whenever, and you never have to worry about ordering a new version of the Creative Suite since the updates are automatic and immediately available for downloading. Sometimes there aren’t a lot of obvious changes between a new version and the version that preceded it, such as between Illustrator CC 2014 and original CC. If anything, some noticeable “improvements” aren’t: a login screen that never goes away unless you can find a way to turn it off (rather than being in interface preferences, the on/off switch for this feature is hidden) and TypeKit integration which is both annoying and confusing. But if you’re a professional, Creative Cloud apps such as Illustrator are essential and the integration between Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign is unmatched. (Who even is Adobe’s competition? Microsoft? Corel? Quark? I don’t think so.) InDesign imports raw AI and PSD files; AI can open and edit PDF files saved by Photoshop and InDesign. Illustrator files can be copied and pasted into Photoshop and remain live and editable. The list of features is endless. And over time, they keep getting better.
